"I Am Jackie Chan" is a 1998 Hong Kong martial arts action-comedy film directed by Jackie Chan and Benny Chan. The film is a semi-autobiographical account of Jackie Chan's life and career, chronicling his rise from a struggling stuntman to a world-renowned movie star.
The film begins with Jackie Chan narrating his life story, starting with his childhood growing up in the China Drama Academy. From an early age, he showed an aptitude for acrobatics and martial arts, and he was trained rigorously by master Yu Jim-yuen. After graduating from the Academy, Jackie struggled to find work as a stuntman in Hong Kong, but eventually landed a job as a stunt coordinator for producer Willie Chan.
With Willie Chan's help, Jackie was able to get his first starring role in the 1978 film "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow." The film was a huge hit, and Jackie's career took off from there. He went on to make numerous martial arts films, including "Drunken Master," "Police Story," and "Rumble in the Bronx."
Throughout the film, Jackie shares his insights into the movie industry, his approach to martial arts, and his personal philosophy on life. He also discusses some of the difficulties he encountered along the way, including injuries, setbacks, and the pressure of fame.
